Abstract

Introduction. Information sources play a key role for information seeking and use behaviour. We analyse the relationship between information sources and information seeking and use behaviour. Method. Within a social psychology framework, we use social representation method and have interviewed seventeen financiers, using a qualitative method that underlines the relationship between information sources, professional contexts and strategies. Analysis. The data were analysed using the APRIL resemblance analysis software package to establish the linkages between information sources in the perceptions of the financiers. Results. Thus, this study demonstrates that the analysis of information sources in details with the professional context can help us to explain information specific practices. Conclusions. These findings have implications for developing new information systems and better understanding information seeking and use behaviour.
