Document et modernités

Abstract : Documentation has contributed substantially to the modernization of the industrial societies. The assumption we are proposing in this collective paper of the network RTP-DOC is that the diverse developments on digital documentation illustrate and support the hesitant rise of a new modernity, in a process of “redocumentarization”. Its principles don't always fit with the necessary arrangement with the previous order of documentation, neither with the traditional borders of the social communication. The process, often presented like a radical change, is more likely to be seen as hybridization where mediations are recomposed. In many cases the wellknown frameworks are blurring, and these situations become sources of difficulties, misunderstandings but also of fast fortunes and promising openings. It is undoubtedly too early to conclude that a new order of documentation is replacing the previous one, but it is certain that it is not an epiphenomenon, anymore.
