Abstract : The rational exploitation of the results of scientific research depends initially on the access to these results. It is from this principle that emerged the movement of the open Archives in the research field in order to preach an open and free access to the world's scientific literature. In order to accompany this movement and to control its principles and its techniques, a prototype of institutional and multidisciplinary open archive (CERIST of Algiers) was installed for the Algerian scientific communities. This prototype named "ArchivAlg" consists of a data base and a unit of technical and methodological protocols which make it possible to the researchers to freely diffuse on Internet their research works. In addition, some prospects for the promotion of free archiving in Algeria are also approached.
